Since 1993,\u00a0Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 Female Choir\u00a0has been led by\u00a0Rita Varonen, a graduate conductor who studied choral conducting at the prestigious Liszt Academy in Budapest. In addition to her degree in choral conducting, she has completed studies in wind orchestra conducting and vocal performance. Rita Varonen is an internationally acclaimed choir conductor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1996, Varonen received the\u00a0Harald Anders\u00e9n Award\u00a0from the Finnish Cultural Foundation in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of Finnish choral culture. In 2001, she was awarded second prize in the international\u00a0Mariele Ventre Conducting Competition\u00a0in Italy. The Finnish Choral Conductors\u2019 Association named her\u00a0Conductor of the Year\u00a0in 2004.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2009, she was selected as\u00a0Best Conductor\u00a0at both the\u00a0Slovakia Cantat\u00a0and\u00a0ABB Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica\u00a0international choral competitions. In 2012, the Finnish Amateur Musicians\u2019 Association (Sulasol) awarded her the\u00a0Klemetti Award\u00a0for her distinguished work in the field of choral music. Her most recent honours include the\u00a0Gold Merit Badge\u00a0of the Finnish Mixed Choir Association in 2018 and the\u00a0Gold Merit Badge\u00a0of the Finnish Women\u2019s Choir Association in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rita Varonen serves as a Senior Lecturer at\u00a0JAMK University of Applied Sciences\u00a0in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, where she teaches orchestra conducting, choral conducting and musicianship. She is also a sought-after lecturer, clinician and adjudicator at international choral events and competitions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
